The Wild Things

The Wild Things

A week of living in and with the forest. Dates tentative, registration opens Nov 20.

From our forest base camp, we will explore hidden swimming holes, learn and practice the use of a carving knife, an axe, and a saw, and how to start and keep a fire for cooking and baking our meals, which we will prepare from scratch. The week will include making crafts from forest materials, practicing navigation skills, learning how to find clean water, identifying useful plants, and observing forest animals. We will take special field trips to rock climb, hike Mount Abe, and paddle down the river. We will help on local farms and improve the Mad River Path. Students will connect to the Valley, the mountains, their little tribe, and the wild side of things.
